Ci sono eventi che sono così grandiosi che se uno scrittore ha partecipato (oppure: assistito) ad essi, il suo obbligo è quello di scriverli in modo preciso (oppure: come sono realmente avvenuti), piuttosto che assumere il presupposto di modificarli con la fantasia.
“obbligo” potrebbe essere sostituito con “compito”, ma secondo me questa traduzione toglie forza all’affermazione, alterandone in parte il senso.
